Qui sont les MoRkObOt?Les MoRkObOt sont les compagnons de Label d’Ufomammut, très bon groupe stoner-psyché, chez SupernaturalCat. Et puis les MoRkObOt sont Italiens ; ce qui a peut-être son importance, tant les Italiens ont pu souvent prétendre au titre de champions de l’outrance en tout genre. Je pense à tout ce cinéma horrifique de série Z, à ces BD érotiques aux scénarios imbuvables. Ajoutez à ce grotesque héritage culturel quelques us et coutumes fumeux d’obédience doom ou métal, et vous obtenez à coup sûr le mauvais goût et l’audace essentiels pour créer un objet sonore comme MoStRo -impossible d’imaginer que ces types soient des quelconques aristocrates d’un genre… (aristocrades conviendrait mieux)-.

Car le disque terminé, on se rend compte que les Morkobot ne sont pas là que pour se fendre la poire, même si les dernières minutes du titre ultime reprennent la veine bondissante de l’ouverture de l’opus. Les musiciens tirent un évident amusement à rechercher trucs et astuces pour intégrer moult influences et pièges sonores inattendus. Mais pousser le saugrenu assez loin peut mener à déranger, MoRkObOt nous rappelle cela.
Leur potion est plus acide que les premières gorgées à la Lightning Bolt mêlées de plomb pourraient le laisser présager. Acide du genre bouillonnant et corrosif. Avec de la fumée, des bulles, et tout… et plein de produits toxiques dedans. Du Psyché, de la Noise, du Doom, de l’indus… On passe très vite du jubilatoire bruitiste-groovy presque dansant aux ambiances pesantes saturées de sons exacerbés, ou aux rythmiques lourdes. C’est sans doute un psychédélisme épais et contondant qui cimente le tout, en un grand rire inquiétant. MoStRo ressemble parfois à un cauchemar fluorescent, un rêve plein de couleurs trop vives. Une étrangeté fourmillante progresse inexorablement de titre en titre jusqu’au dernier (Poldon) qui dure 25 minutes et qui constitue de fait la moitié de l’album –ce bouffon aux grelots hallucinogènes- …
Une hybridation bizarre entre enthousiasme délirant et horreur musicale de seconde zone (le délire étant sans doute l’arête commune de ces deux facettes). Appelons ce mélange... horreur enthousiaste !! Et faites tourner le nom de ce groupe plaisamment douteux !

Just add to this grotesque cultural legacy some hazy doom metal customs and you get most certainly the essential bad taste and daring to create such a resounding thing like “MoStRo”… impossible to imagine these guys being aristocrats of any genre! (“filthocrats” could suit better!)

Musicians are picking up an obvious diversion in searching for ways to mix a lot of influences and unforeseen resonant traps. But being to freaky can also cause some trouble, and MoRkObOt reminds us that.
Their potion is more acid than the first draughts of this Lightning Bolt-mixed-with-melt-lead drink could let foresee. A sort of seething and corrosive acid! With smoke, bubbles and so forth… and a lot of toxic chemicals inside! Psych, Noise, Doom, Indus… One passes quickly from an exulting groovy – almost danceable – noise, to heavy moods saturated with exacerbate sounds or marked by weighty rhythms. Probably all this material becomes cemented with a thick and blunt psychedelism, in a disturbing laugh…
“Mostro” sometimes looks like a fluorescent nightmare, a dream full of too brilliant colours. A swarming oddity is inexorably making headway from track to track till the last one (Poldon), which is 25 minutes long and actually constitutes the half of the album – this buffoon with hallucinogenic bells.
An odd hybridization, between raving enthusiasm and second rate musical horror, delirium being without doubt the shared edge from these both sides. Let’s call that blending… “enthusiastic horror”! And may their pleasantly dubious name be handed round!
